And the Best Wedding Song Oscar Goes To…..

With the great duo of James Franco and Anne Hathaway leading the way, this year’s Oscars ceremony was definitely entertaining, to say the least! One category we particularly were interested in was “Best Original Song.” After listening to all the nominated songs, we thought (with our wedding-focused minds), “Hey, these would all fit in some part of a wedding ceremony!” And that is exactly where we have come to. We decided to have our own “Mini Wedding Music Oscars.” So without further ado, the Oscar for Best Wedding Song goes to….

“Coming Home” (from Country Strong) for Best Bride’s Entrance Song

Who doesn’t love a little Gwyneth Paltrow? She’s shown us her many talents with her acting and now (taking a page from hubby Chris Martin), she’s definitely proven herself as a singer with an Oscar nomination! Imagine walking down the aisle to your love as you are finally “coming home.”

“If I Rise” (from 127 Hours) for Best Unity Candle Song

Just listening to this song makes me think of candles! Sung by Dido and A.R. Rahman, this calming, soft tune is perfect for joining your families together during your unity candle ceremony.

“I See the Light” (from Tangled) for Best First Dance Song

What better song to dance your first dance to as husband wife than a duet!? With Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi singing this romantically dreamy yet fun tune, you won’t need to fantasize about being in a fairy tale!

“We Belong Together” (from Toy Story 3) for Best Reception Dance Song

This song didn’t win the Oscar for nothing! Randy Newman really makes you want to get up and dance with this song and we don’t blame him! Also, what better way to celebrate your newly-wed marriage than getting family and friends up on the dance floor?

So, what are your thoughts on the Oscar nominated songs? Would you use any at your wedding? Share your thoughts with us!

I really like those songs – great idea to get wedding song inspiration from the movies – as you say, they won an Oscar for a reason!
