6 Special Ways to Honor Your Mom at your Wedding. Which is your Favorite?

1. Walk down the aisle (the recessional) to the same song as your mother did.
A really nice idea is to walk down the aisle to the same song your mother and father played for their wedding. This is a terrific tribute to both parents.

2. Give a rose to your mother and the groom’s mother as you walk down the aisle. Your florist can leave two roses loosened in your bouquet. Then, just as you get to the altar, you can pull one out for your mother, and one for the groom’s mother for a slightly dramatic but very warm touch.

3. Before the ceremony, leave a personalized handkerchief along with a special flower, like an orchid, or a rose, on each mother’s seat. The handkerchief is a great keepsake of your wedding. Of course, it’s always nice to include a special personal note of thanks too.

4. Instead of doing a “bouquet toss,” dedicate your bouquet to your mother. We read about one wedding where the bride gave a short little speech about someone who’s very special in her life. She never let on who it was about until the very end when she dedicated her bouquet to her mother. Everyone was surprised, especially her mother. Well of course, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house! Thanks to whomever wrote about that wedding on the internet. We love this idea.

5. Think of duplicating your mother’s bridal bouquet. That’s a very special touch she’ll love. All you have to do is show the florist a wedding picture of your mother with her bouquet. You could do the same thing with the wedding cake.

6. At your wedding reception, you can play a special mother daughter song and actually dance with your mom. Having a special dance with your mother is ‘the new normal’. You can add to the charm by presenting a personalized gift CD of the song to your mom. Guaranteed, she’ll treasure it forever.
