When I envision a wedding, usually the first thing that pops into my head is an image of the bride walking down the aisle. In fact, I think every woman imagines that scenario, from childhood until their big special day. I even remember one time when I was about 10, my friend and I were flipping through wedding magazines and fantasizing about walking down the aisle! Walking down the aisle is perhaps the most special moment of the ceremony for the bride and should be accompanied by a special song, a song that feels like an extension of the moment.
Normally when we think of brides entrance songs, standard ‘hits’ such as Wagner’s, “The Bridal Chorus” and Mendelsson’s, “The Wedding March” pop into our heads. These are safe picks, but now it’s 2010. The new trend for brides everywhere is choosing a song that sounds refreshing and contemporary but still captures the idea of a traditional wedding through rich, emotion-filled lyrics. Since a wedding is a once in a lifetime event, brides have been requesting entrance songs that speak to them in a new and unique way.
Check out some of our new brides entrance songs, including the popular hit, “When She Walks” and let us know what some of your favorite brides entrance wedding songs are!

In addition to the advice in this article, you can use your own iPod to play your down the isle music as well as your reception. A recent report indicates that 4 out of 10 couples now play their own music at their wedding reception in lieu of hiring a DJ. You can get some great tips and professionally recorded introductions from this site including free wedding play list ideas, tips and ideas on wedding music and more. Check it out.
I am a DJ in Orlando and for the processional/entrance song most brides are keeping it traditional with the Wedding March and Canon in D still. Great choices though in the link above. On a side note, one popular song chosen by brides for the recessional is Beautiful Day by U2. Your DJ that you hire can point you in the right direction if you want to go non-traditional.
We just made a great find on a new version of the Wedding March by Jonathan Cain. The bride was crying all the way down the aisle. Take a listen on YouTube if you get a chance. Jonathan Cain’s version is really amazing.
Great advice, guys! It’s always great to hear from actual wedding DJs with experience. We’ll definitely look into your suggestions, “The Wedding March” is definitely a tear-jerker!
I am a dj from Houston and about half of the brides we talk to want to stray away from the traditional songs and make their wedding uniquely their own. Most of these brides think they are alone but the truth is the uncommon is becoming the norm. Check out the list of songs real brides have asked us to play at their wedding on our website http://djrobinfo.com/Nontraditional_Wedding_Musi.html
LOVE this. Is a pink wedding gown acceptable and the entourage in white?
I am a DJ from harrisburg, PA and will definitely be making use of this!!
